A new purpose-built simulated cleanroom
Opening mid-2026, the FabHub is designed to offer practical manufacturing training representative of real industry conditions.
It will provide students with job-ready skills, to better understand medtech commercialisation and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world application. It will enable introduction of students to operational requirements under quality management systems, ISO13485 and GMP requirements and cleanroom best practices through simulated workplace challenges.
It also offers space to industry looking to train new and existing staff as well as training providers seeking to enhance their existing training offerings by adding a practical element to their courses.
Facility capabilities
Located at the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery in Fitzroy, Melbourne, the FabHub consists of a 50m² lab and anteroom with adjacent training and storage rooms.
Highly flexible to user needs, the FabHub can be reconfigured to mimic wet or dry laboratory spaces or a cleanroom environment to meet diverse training requirements and desired learning outcomes.
